Davenport Road Evangelical Church has its roots in The Railway Mission, a branch of which used to meet in an old “tin tent” on Bateman Street near the railway station.
Back in 1972 these faithful believing people, recognising that their premises were limiting their gospel objectives, sought the Lord’s leading for a new property. A Methodist Church on Davenport Road became available for sale, and in a great step of faith, the current building with its tremendous space and facilities, was purchased.
In 2022 the church celebrated 50 years on Davenport Road! New outreach opportunities are literally coming to our doorstep as a nearby old Rolls Royce site is being developed into a large housing estate!
